You must know, all of you, and the whole people of Israel, that it is by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, and God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man stands before you cured.
This is the stone which you, the builders, rejected but which has become the cornerstone. Only in him is there salvation;
for of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.
Acts 4:10-12
Only in the Name of Jesus, is there salvation!
This was St Peter’s bold declaration to the authorities who arrested him and John for healing the lame man at the Beautiful Gate.
Can you imagine, rather than appreciate the miracle, they persecuted them.
It’s hardly surprising as this is what Jesus suffered during His public ministry.
The constant opposition was because He caused a stir, a sort of discomfort in the hearts and minds of the authorities who refused to believe His message.
No wonder they felt that since they were able to silence the Master by killing Him, they could also silence His disciples by jailing them.
But they were wrong!
As St Peter clearly pointed out that they didn’t silence Jesus, as He rose from the dead!
And His new life which is now available to them by the Power of the Holy Spirit is truly unstoppable and indestructible!
St Paul says it so clearly in Romans 8:11
” if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.”
The Spirit that raised Christ Jesus from the dead had been outpoured upon them.
The Holy Spirit declaring through St Peter, made it clear, salvation is only possible through JESUS Christ!
The same Spirit of Jesus Christ has been given to every baptised and confirmed Christian who believes in the resurrected Lord.
Oh that today we may listen to His voice, and accept Him again as our personal LORD and Saviour.
Prayer
LORD Jesus, behold I come to You just as I am without one plea, but that Thy Blood was shed for me.
So please LORD receive me in Your mercy.
Conceal me by YOUR Spirit.
Deliver me in Your mercy, into the glory of Your Kingdom.
Wash me clean from my sins, heal my brokenness.
Redeem my wretchedness and fill me with Your Holy Spirit.
I want more of You LORD.
Beyond more LORD, I want ALL of You, so please take me and use me and change me by Your Power.
Thank You LORD for saving me.
