My Father and your Father

Jesus said to her, “Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.”

John 20:17

When Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene after His Resurrection, we can only imagine how full of joy her heart was.

Think of how excited she must have felt to be present before her risen LORD.

She must have wanted to hug Him and hold tight to Him for her dear life!

I would have if I were in her situation.

However Jesus, whilst sharing her joy, cautions her to not expect Him to stay on earth.

He turns her into a missionary of His Resurrection, instructing her with the words to give His brethren.

It’s exciting to see Jesus refer now to His disciples as His brothers.

What does this mean?

Jesus is making known and revealing the understanding that His death and Resurrection has reconciled us back as children of God.

In Christ, we have now been restored to the pre-sinful state that Adam had when God created him as His son.

The term pre-sinful reminds us that truly Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world.

So though we had been dead through sin, Jesus’ death and Resurrection gives us the entrance into a new life!

The new Adam, Jesus Christ our LORD has made it possible for us to re-inherit God’s eternal plan and purpose for us from the foundation of the world.

By understanding this truth, Jesus makes known that His Father is our Father, and His God is our God.

In other words, we are completely united to Him as one, and share fully in His Divine purposes.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, in the Name of Your Precious Son, Jesus Christ we honour and worship You.

Thank You for our lives and Divine Life that we share in Jesus Christ, Your Son.

Father, I am Your child!

Today, I simply come to You to say, “take care of me, Heavenly Father”.

Take care of us, Holy Father.

We surrender our hopes and dreams to You and ask that You have Your way.

We are completely in Your hands.

Amen!

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
