‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’
Matthew 22:36
37 Jesus said to him, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.
38 This is the greatest and the first commandment.
39 The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself.
Above all else, in our lives, the love of God must reign supreme.
It is the pure, unadulterated love of God for us that keeps us alive and gives meaning to all of our existence.
Therefore our loving God in return for His marvellous love, is simply the right thing to do – as it opens us up even more to receive and be blessed by His bountiful love.
Therefore when Jesus commands us to love God with everything within us, the command is truly for our good.
We simply cannot live a meaningful, fulfilling, joy-filled life on earth without sharing in God’s love and consequently His Eternal Life.
When we think of Eternal Life, our minds are conditioned to think of the life after this present one. And that is the truth, once pass on from this world to the next, then we will by His grace live with Him eternally.
However, this is only possible if in this life we have shared in God’s love and been united with Him as His loving, obedient children.
However, there is a deeper truth still, which is that we can even in this life, begin to share in God’s Eternal Life.
Think of Jesus our LORD, even in this life, He shared in His Father’s Eternal Life.
He promised us that He has come to give us life, life in all its fullness. (John 10:10)
This means that Eternal Life is abundantly available to us now!
We can share in God’s life now, as He freely reveals it to us, and completely in eternity.
How is this possible? And how is it possible to love God completely.
This is only possible with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Today, let us call upon HIS saving help.
Prayer
Come o Blessed Holy Spirit of God. Come and fill our hearts and minds with Your love and Presence.
Transform our hearts in the love of God.
Help us to know You, The Father and The Son as You really are.
Take us deeper and deepest even into Your love.
We want to drink, drench and be drunk inside Your love.
Thank You living God for Your abundant graces and love.
