“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hid. Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a bushel, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. Let your light so shine before men…
Matthew 5:14-16
In today’s Gospel, Jesus is calling us to a life of holiness and radiance.
He is calling us as children of God to live exemplary lives that give glory to our Father in Heaven.
As Christians, we sometimes or often times forget this calling. Living in the world which has a set of behaviours and rules that a lot of times contradict the message of Christ’s gospel can be tough.
The temptations abound to compromise to get along with our friends, colleagues at work and other acquaintances that have other beliefs or faiths.
However this never ends up working well, because compromising means that we deny the Truth of the Gospel which eventually leads us to actions or a pattern of life that contradicts this specific calling of Christ to us in today’s gospel.
So what is the solution?
There is only one solution Jesus CHRIST and His Grace.
We need the grace of God to abide in us and empower us to completely abandon sin and evil and the lifestyle choices that lead to them.
In other words, we need to take off and trash out the garments of compromise and put on Christ’s garments of grace.
God’s grace is truly sufficient to help us live His calling to be the light of the world.
So today let us make a new commitment to answer this call of our LORD and ask for grace to let our light shine.
Prayer
So let it shine, shine, shine
Come on and let your light shine
O let it shine, shine, shine
Come on and let your light shine.
Light of the world, You stepped down into darkness
Open my eyes let me see…
LORD Jesus today I come before You heeding Your call to be the light of the world.
For as You are, so are we in this world.
We represent Your glory and mercy and love.
And yet we have missed this truth and for fear of men, have conformed to the standards of this world.
Jesus we repent and ask for your mercy and grace.
Set our hearts free we pray You, so that we may love as You and fear You above all.
Let our light shine so that men may praise our Father, and come to know You Whom we reflect as light of the world.
Amen!
Always & Forever,
To The Lamb,
With all my ❤
