Born of the Spirit

Jesus replied: In all truth I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God without being born through water and the Spirit;

what is born of human nature is human; what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

John 3:5-6

Have you ever considered what it means to be born of God’s Spirit?

This discussion between Jesus and Nicodemus in today’s Gospel has some of the most notable quotes of Scripture.

From this discussion we have the quotes about “being born again” and “for God so loved the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life”.

As I meditate on this, I wonder about the immensity of God’s love that He should birth us of His Spirit.

Genesis 2:7 narrating the Creation story says that God breathed life into Adam after forming Him.

First, God desired Adam and created him and then breathed His own life into him, and man became a living being!

As I ponder this, I am quieted within me.

All I want is more of the Holy Spirit.

I want more of His Presence and His Life in my soul.

I desire Him as God’s greatest gift to me, in union with Himself and Jesus.

And I want to be baptised in His unending love and grace.

Prayer

Come Holy Spirit of the Living God!

Fall afresh on me.

Baptise me with the fullness of God’s own life and stir up Your virtues within me.

Set me on fire and transform my entire being.

You created me for Yourself o God, and my soul cannot rest and seeks no rest, except in You alone!

So come Spirit Divine and birth me again to the glory of God the Father and the Son.

Amen.

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
