Sacrifice acceptable to God

The sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

Psalm 51:17

As I ponder what it means to sacrifice unto God, the image of fire comes to mind.

The Israelites before the time of Christ, used to offer burnt offerings to the LORD.

When Christ Jesus came into our world, He offered Himself as the eternal burnt offering to the Father.

He did this as taking the role of the great High Priest who offered Himself as the Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world.

So today when the psalmist says the sacrifice acceptable to God is a broken spirit and contrite heart, what does it mean for us?

This is God’s call to us, to humbly acknowledge our sinful nature has been redeemed by Christ, and to submit ourselves to this sacrifice.

By acknowledging and accepting the Divine role of the sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf, we would be saved!

Then our sacrifice of humility and obedience under the sovereign sacrifice of Jesus our Redeemer will be accepted by God.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come before You today to acknowledge the supreme sacrifice of Jesus Your Son on our behalf.

God You are God most Holy, most kind, most loving, most merciful, most gracious.

To redeem a slave, You ransomed Your Son!

We adore You Holy God, living and true!

We submit ourselves to the dominion of Yeshua (Jesus) our LORD on the cross of Calvary.

Receive us through Him as it has pleased You to redeem us through Him.

In Jesus Name, Father we give You all our praise.

Amen!

Always & Forever

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
