Rise, and have no fear

lo, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces, and were filled with awe. But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.”

Matthew 17:5-7

The psalmist (in Psalm 29:5-7) sings about the power of God, saying, “the voice of the LORD breaks the cedars. The LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon, He makes Lebanon leap like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.”

This is so profound because the Psalmist is bringing to our attention the might of God’s Word.

The heavens behold the splendour of the LORD, and in today’s Gospel about the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor, Peter, James and John literally beheld the splendour of God and Heaven’s witness to Jesus.

God the Father, Himself in their hearing, confirmed Jesus as His Son, with Whom He is well pleased.

Then the Father gave an instruction to the disciples to “listen to Him”.

No wonder they were filled with terror and bowed their faces to the ground.

The visit of Moses and Elijah to Jesus on the mountain, which Peter thought was most glorious, was nothing compared to the Father’s revelation of Who His Son, really is.

In our lives too, maybe we have put too much trust in the graces God has given certain prophets of His, and relied on our relationships with them to reveal Jesus’ true identity to us.

Today however, the Father is saying that He Himself wants to reveal Jesus to us.

He wants us to have the full revelation of Jesus from Him.

Jesus Himself, says, “no one can come to me except the Father Who sent me, draws him”.

Our prayer today therefore should centre on God’s call to us.

Jesus is saying to us today, “rise and have no fear”.

Let us trust this as the Father’s voice to us, as He leads us in paths of still waters and righteousness.

Prayer

Holy Father, in the Name of Your Holy Child Jesus Christ, we pray that You lead us to Him.

Draw us nigh to Jesus.

Let Your voice of instruction fill our hearts and renew our minds.

By the power of Your Holy Spirit, transform our lives so that we may perfectly do Your Will.

We need to receive and believe in Your blessed promises, so revive our hearts and souls.

Thank You for Your blessed LOVE towards us.

We give You all the glory and praise, now and forever more.

Amen!

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
