Rich soil

And the seed sown in rich soil is someone who hears the word and understands it; this is the one who yields a harvest and produces now a hundredfold, now sixty, now thirty.

Matthew 13:23

How can soil be rich?

When it is full of nutrients and other necessary elements that allow it enrich the plants that are grown within it.

A seed falls into the soil and dies.

At that point of death, the seed trusts the soil completely to work in its best interests to bring it to life again.

If the soil isn’t rich, then the chances of the seed springing back to life is slim. In other words, the soil carries its deadness across to the seed – stifling its chances of ever springing back to life.

However, if the soil is rich, the story of that same seed is completely changed.

The soil uses the life within it, to fill the entirety of the seed that has died to itself in the hope of life.

The result? Life! Life in abundance!

Not just a seed arises, but a tree!

The question or the parable then that Jesus poses to us is, “What soil is my heart?”

When the Word of GOD is planted as a seed into it, what do I give back?

Isn’t it amazing that God’s word is the Life Giving Word – that transforms everything; and yet, God had subjected the effect of His word into our power?

In other words, if our hearts are not rich soil, the life giving Word that transforms everything, surrenders itself to the condition of our hearts.

In other words, Jesus doesn’t force us! God doesn’t force us to obey His word.

Oh my goodness! Despite His power and His might and the glory of His word, He allows us do as we wish when we receive it.

Thanks be to God that at the same time, when we receive the word of God with understanding, then that seed of His word comes in its life giving power and mixes up with the rich soil of our hearts.

The result? Dynamite!!!

The mighty, incredible power of God is manifested in ways we could never even begin to ask and imagine.

If you feel your faith or soil is weak, it’s okay. He’s got you!

He doesn’t expect us to do this ourselves. Rather, He expects us to acknowledge our weakness, come to Him and draw life giving nutrients from Him.

In fact His word the seed that we receive in our hearts, in many ways through dying to give life in us, becomes the nutrient that gives life and richness to the soil of our hearts.

God is simply amazing!

Prayer

God Almighty, Your Power is truly amazing!

You love us beyond all we can ever imagine…and come simply always to ask us to a relationship with You.

Yes LORD, I come and enter into an everlasting covenant with You and Your word.

Jesus, you know how to change my heart to be rich soil.

Transform me then, that I may speedily adhere to Your word and with understanding treasure it in my heart so that it bears much fruit in abundance for Your glory.

Thank You God. Amen!

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
