Listening to the Holy Spirit

One day while they were offering worship to the Lord and keeping a fast, the Holy Spirit said, ‘I want Barnabas and Saul set apart for the work to which I have called them.’

So it was that after fasting and prayer they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

So these two, sent on their mission by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and from there set sail for Cyprus.

Acts 12:2-4

When I read the Book of Acts, I almost always marvel by the incredible, intimate, relationship that the apostles and early disciples had with the Holy Spirit.

Today’s reading as an example shows clearly how they were always in sync with the Holy Spirit.

They were praying and then He spoke clearly to them.

The instructions were so clear that Paul and Barnabas had no hesitation to obey Him.

They set out on mission after The Holy Spirit called them apart for His work.

Is that just wonderful!

Imagine what it’s like, to go about our daily lives with the full assurance that God is directing our steps and has clearly ordained our ways.

Of course as Christians we can always have this assurance as long as we spend time with God in prayer.

The Bible says, “commit your way to the LORD, trust in Him and He will act.” – Psalm 37:5.

This verse clearly encourages us to trust our ways into God’s Hands and rely on Him to guide us and act on our behalf.

The best way to commit our way to God, is to surrender to His will; and learn from Him what He would have us do.

Surely this is what Paul and Barnabas did as they stepped out in faith to unfamiliar territories to preach.

And we are all witnesses to how successful God made their ministry…beyond all they could ever ask or imagine.

Our God can never be outdone in generosity!

Prayer

God of infinite goodness and majesty, I come before You this day to commit my way to You.

LORD, if I knew how to physically carry my paths to you and ask You to take it all into Your Hands and direct it as You will, LORD I would do so.

Yet LORD I may not be able to do that physically, but spiritually I do.

I carry my paths and commit them completely into Your Hands.

May You o LORD be magnified, glorified and lifted on high.

Thank You God for hearing me.

Please speak to me always, and open my ear to hear, and listen, and obey as one who is taught.

Amen.

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
