Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your pallet, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked.
John 5:8-9
At the sound of the Master’s voice, obeying the Word of His command, the body of a lame man responded to life.
That which was dead and unable to move in him, suddenly received new power to be alive and free.
Ah, the gentle compassion of Jesus.
It strikes me that this healing happened by the healing pool of Bethsaida.
The lame man had been there thirty eight years before Jesus walked by.
He had been lying by the pool of healing water unable to get healed because of his inability to get into the water first.
However when Jesus came, He wasn’t interested in the man’s ability to act, He simply saw him, had compassion on him and healed him.
Today, Christ is passing by – the Messiah, the Anointed One, the Healer.
He is passing by every heart, every home, every family, every hospital, every nation.
The lame man didn’t have to speak first, and we certainly don’t have to speak to attract God’s compassionate love.
But perhaps, just perhaps, what if God wants to start up a conversation with us as He did with the lame man.
As we listen and respond to Him, as the lame man did, He will certainly not leave us the same.
For no one who ever encountered the LORD Jesus with an open heart and mind, was ever left the same.
Today therefore, let us listen to the conversation that the LORD is stirring deep down within our souls.
Let us acknowledge and respond in love.
So that our bodies and all our being may receive life again, and rise up, and walk.
Prayer
Holy God, I fall on my knees this moment, asking for Your loving kindness and tender mercies upon me, my family, and all mankind.
God we are most in need of Your mercy!
Forgive us, heal us, save us, deliver us.
Send Your rain upon the earth again as healing waters that well up into rivers of life across all nations.
Heal our world LORD, for You are the fountain of all life.
As You passed by the lame man and healed him, do the same for us.
Command us to arise, pick up our pallet and walk.
And give us the grace not to sin again as You forgive us all our sins.
Thank You for Your transforming love and power taking deep roots in our hearts.
We praise and trust You, and surrender completely to Your Will, now and forever.
Amen.
Always & Forever,
To the Lamb,
With all my ❤
