Leave these men alone

What I suggest, therefore, is that you leave these men alone and let them go. If this enterprise, this movement of theirs, is of human origin it will break up of its own accord;

but if it does in fact come from God you will be unable to destroy them. Take care not to find yourselves fighting against God.’ His advice was accepted.

Acts 5:38-39

Today we continue reading about the persecution of the apostles.

The Jewish authorities were puzzled as to how to handle their insistence to preach the gospel of Jesus.

Gamaliel, who was highly respected, gave the sound advice that they let the apostles alone.

He plainly stated that if the work was from God, they couldn’t oppose it.

It’s interesting that his advice was accepted and yet when we read the following verse 40, it states that the same leaders gave orders for the apostles to be flogged.

In our lives, we also need to acknowledge the importance of realising when God is at work, and surrendering to Him.

God is omnipotent above everything and everyone.

To Him alone belongs all power and authority.

So we always have to acknowledge that in light of His will, we’re absolutely nothing by ourselves.

How can our wills compare to His, and how can we accomplish our plans apart from Him?

We need to depend totally on Him; surrendering into His gracious love and loving kindness.

Our hearts and minds need to trust completely in Him and His power to save us from evil.

This is what the apostles did, and they were not put to shame.

So let us follow completely in the footsteps of the apostles and trust God with everything.

Prayer

LORD Jesus Christ, by Your merciful love I completely surrender to Your Will.

You are God of my life.

My times are in Your Hands.

The Blood of Jesus Christ Your Son speaks gracious love concerning me and for this I am eternally grateful.

Today, o Holy LORD, I ask for the anointing of Your most Holy Spirit to fill me, empower me, transform me, renew me, make me whole.

I trust that as I pray You hear and answer me.

Blessed be Your Holy Name o God, both now and forever.

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
