Jesus, the Good Shepherd

I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,

just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.

And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too will listen to my voice, and there will be only one flock, one shepherd.

John 10:14-16

Oh how exciting is this verse from today’s Gospel!

Jesus describes Himself as the good shepherd.

What’s most remarkable to me is how he compares the way He and the Father know each other, to how He and His sheep (us) know each other.

Think on this for a few moments.

The Father knows Jesus perfectly, and Jesus knows the Father perfectly.

Most of us would agree that Jesus knows us perfectly; but have we ever considered that we also know Him perfectly.

That’s my interpretation when I read Him saying, “I know my own, and my own know me; just as the Father knows me and I know the Father”.

This is amazing. For Jesus to have said it, we know it is true.

So how is this deep knowledge of Jesus possible for us who are His own?

It is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the only One that can really reveal Jesus Christ to us, to open our eyes to see Him as He really is.

Today, let us ask God The Holy Spirit for this especially wonderful grace.

Prayer

O God the Holy Spirit, I worship You and praise You for Your wondrous love and mercy.

Thank You for saving me and opening my eyes to see Jesus and know Him as He truly is.

Thank You for pouring out Yourself upon all mankind and giving each one of us a chance to be a part of Christ’s wonderful Kingdom with the Father, and with You Precious Spirit.

Come Holy Spirit, come now, come as You wish.

Amen.

Thank You LORD!

Always & Forever,

To the Lamb,

With all my ❤
