And he said, “With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable shall we use for it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth;
Mark 4:30-31
Today’s parable of the mustard seed is so fascinating. The LORD talks about the Kingdom of God and compares it a mustard seed that when sown is the smallest of all seeds of the earth.
Yet when it grows it becomes the greatest of all shrubs and gives shelter to the birds of the earth.
This sounds like such a contradiction.
How can the smallest of all seeds, grow to become the largest garden tree?
This can only be possible by the power of God.
We need, I need, to remove limitations from my mind as to what God can do and trust completely in His power!
The power of the HOLY SPIRIT is what gives heavenly life to our earthly bodies.
The challenge a lot of us face in comprehending this is that we still do not understand or have had an experience of heaven’s power.
Our experiences have largely if not predominantly been based on earthly interactions and understanding of the power that is available on earth.
Jesus however operated from a different paradigm!
Though fully human, He was fully God and manifested in His human nature the power of God.
This was the power we had in our nature before the fall of Adam.
Because Genesis tells us that God made us in His image and in His likeness. And that Adam communed with God, and God gave him dominion over all the earth.
Adam at that time had dominion because he was one with God. This dominion he lost through sin, when he disobeyed God.
The new Adam, Jesus Christ, has eternal dominion because He is eternally one with the Father.
Truly Jesus Christ is the pattern for our lives.
Only by being one with HIM, can we truly manifest the virtue of the mustard seed that (even though we are the smallest of the earth) grows to become the largest shrub, giving shelter to others who are in need of God’s mercy.
Prayer
Spirit of the Living God, fall afresh on me!
LORD God, I need Your Power and Your Grace to anoint me anew.
Send Your Holy Spirit upon me Jesus, to transform my heart and mind. To renew me in Your mercies.
Set me free by the power of Your Spirit that I may begin to walk anew in complete oneness with You LORD Jesus.
This is my heart’s cry, o LORD!
Hear me and help me, I humbly pray.
For apart from You I can do nothing, but with Your power and anointing, I can do all things.
Make me that fully grown grain of mustard seed, that I may grow to be the largest of all trees and provide shelter to all You bring to rest in my shade.
Father I humbly ask all this in Jesus Name.
