Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate.
Do not judge, and you will not be judged yourselves; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned yourselves; grant pardon, and you will be pardoned.Luke 6:36-37
To be compassionate like God. What does this mean?
To be moved with pity, with tender love and affection for the plight of another one – this is what comes to my mind.
Jesus’ call to us today isn’t a small feat.
It calls us to a higher level of holiness than we can possibly imagine.
Think of this, Jesus says that we are to be compassionate as our Heavenly Father, this is the same Heavenly Father Who causes His sun to shine on the just and the unjust and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous (Matthew 5:45).
Wow! This is so profound. It is a calling that we can only achieve by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
For only the Holy Spirit knows the heart of the Father and can share with us the Father’s heart to even allow us access to begin to see others through His eyes and love others as He loves them.
How we need the Holy Spirit!
Come Holy Spirit of God, we need You!
You are God Who is perfect in all Your ways.
You have called us to this ideal standard of life because You know that by Your grace at work in us, we can achieve it.
For You do not instruct us to live a life that is unachievable.
So Holy Spirit, today, I surrender all my cares to You. I surrender the strongholds of my life to Your hands.
Take absolute control and deliver me from every evil bondage, inclination and tendency.
Set me free from oppression and the spirit of rebellion that I may submit myself humbly under the yoke of Your Word and allow Your power to change my life.
Thank You for giving me the grace to be compassionate like the Father and turning my heart to love Him completely, freely, fully as His little child.
Always & Forever,
To The Lamb,
With all my ❤
