Unbind him, and let him go

When he had said this, he cried with a loud voice, “Laz’arus, come out.”

The dead man came out, his hands and feet bound with bandages, and his face wrapped with a cloth.

Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

John 11:43-44

The power of God to save and to bring life from death, is made manifest in today’s Church readings.

In Ezekiel 37:1-14, God promised that He would raise up His people from their graves.

We see this fulfilled as Jesus raised Lazarus from death.

When Jesus gave the command to Lazarus to “come out”, against all odds, at the word of Jesus’ command, Lazarus’ being heeded and obeyed the voice of God.

Jesus then commanded the people gathered, to “unbind him, and let him go”.

The miracle of God’s love and powerful protection is still at work today in our lives.

He is still speaking powerfully into our lives and beings, today.

As Jesus speaks to us, our spirit (His Spirit) and our beings heed and obey His voice!

Think of it, Jesus promised us that He would not leave us orphans; that the Father would send us the Holy Spirit as Comforter (John 14:18, 26).

Surely, this means that our Saviour Jesus, our Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit cannot fail us.

The promise of Jesus is being fulfilled today in our lives, and in the life of His Church, and in our world.

As we remind ourselves that He is the Eternal Word of the Father, Whose words will never pass away, let us hold firmly to His promises.

We need the Holy Spirit of God in our world today more than ever!

As Jesus promised, the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth.

The Holy Spirit is the LORD and giver of life.

Today, let us implore Jesus to ask His Heavenly Father to send His Holy Spirit in a new and powerful way, so that He brings new life to every dead parts of our lives.
