54 He also said to the crowds, “When you see a cloud rising in the west, you immediately say, ‘It is going to rain’; and so it happens.
55 And when you see the south wind blowing, you say, ‘There will be scorching heat’; and it happens.
56 You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of earth and sky, but why do you not know how to interpret the present time?Luke 12:54-56
The Lord Jesus challenges us today to think differently. He calls us to have a Heavenly mindset as we review the events of the world.
Today’s Gospel reading is particularly apt for these times.
As we scout the world over, we see significant shifts. War, drought, food shortages, political instability in major nations of the world.
The United Kingdom in recent weeks has experienced power shifts from the resignation of two prime ministers to the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Jesus isn’t calling us to be fearful at these times but to be alert and awake!
The times are for discernment. We need to ask the LORD what His Spirit is saying to the Church at a time like this.
What role do we have as Christians, as Catholics, to make a difference in the landscapes of the world’s affairs.
How do we begin to intercede and alert Heaven to show mercy on the world and on the Church of Christ?
By raising our eyes, hearts and voices to our Father in Heaven.
As we call out for mercy, we remember the finished work of Jesus our Saviour on the Cross of Calvary.
Today let us plead for that finished work of Christ to take effect and manifest fully into every area of our lives, family members’ lives, Christ’s Church and throughout the world.
God’s eyes are running to and fro the earth looking for those on whose behalf He would show Himself strong. (For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is perfect toward Him.) – 2 Chronicles 16:9
May our hearts be perfect towards Him as we lift them up to Heaven to understand His will, to interprete the times and He would show Himself strong on our behalf.
We bless You Father, LORD God of Heaven and Earth for revealing these mysteries to us, Your little ones.
As we open up our hearts to You today, we ask that through the saving grace of our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, that You show us Your great mercy and grant us Your salvation.
We need Your help today God to interprete the times and to understand what Your Spirit is saying to the Church.
May our ears be open, our hearts be open, our eyes be open and our understanding perfected in Jesus Name. That as we hear, perceive and see the mysteries of Your Kingdom manifested here on earth, we shall align with Your will and bring about the Triumph of the Reign of Christ and of His Church.
Hear our prayers o Lord, of mercy and in Your great love, grant us Your saving help. Amen!
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning, it is now and ever shall be, world without end. AMEN.
Always & Forever,
To the Lamb,
With all my 💗
